Sony Ericsson refreshes the Xperia neo, calls it the Xperia neo V

Sony Ericsson has refreshed its Xperia neo smartphone from earlier this year with a new color and an upgraded camera. The new Xperia neo V will be available in white in addition to blue gradient and silver colors from before, and has had its 8 megapixel camera swapped out for an 5 megapixel unit.

The Xperia neo V also has the claim as the first Sony Ericsson phone with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and the updated Facebook Inside Xperia features that Sony Ericsson announced today. Other than the lower spec 5 megapixel camera, now with 3D panorama sweep functionality, and the color scheme, the neo V is virtually the same as the outgoing neo. It sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 3.7-inch, FWVGA (480 x 854) screen. The included 8GB microSD card has been swapped for a considerably less spacious 2GB unit, but the neo V still supports cards up to 32GB in capacity. Its front-facing VGA camera can now be used for video calling in Google Talk since the neo V will be running Android 2.3.4.
The neo V will be hitting select global markets in Q4 of this year. It will be offered in versions that support HSPA 3G on the 900/2100MHz or 850/1900/2100MHz bands.
